"Hey, Stormi…wake up…dude, you've only been asleep for five minutes…"
I literally had to shake Stormi awake…even though she'd only been asleep for, like, five minutes?
"Huzzuh?"
"It's time to do, hun. You know, that concert we're going to? With the backstage passes? Oh yeah, that one."
Stormi rubbed her eyes and started freaking out. "Are we late?!"
"No!" I grabbed her arms and pinned her down. "Seriously, chill." I let her up after she calmed down.
"I didn't mess up my makeup, did I?" she pouted, dabbing her face.
"Don't touch it any more, or you will! Now come on, Seth's probably waiting."
Stormi nodded and we grabbed our stuff. Walking through the hotel, we saw lots of "Do Not Disturb" signs…I guess everyone was resting up before the concert. There were only a few kids left lounging around in the lobby, and each one of them was asleep. The lady at the front desk looked insanely bored, and was reading a book. She didn't even notice us when we walked up. Our Converse made no noise on the orangey-marble floor, so that made it all the easier.
Seth was waiting for us outside. He was sitting on a bench and looked strangely out of place with the brightly colored surroundings. His dark clothes were like a raincloud in a blue sky. We slipped silently through the glass doors, trying to see if we could sneak up on him, even though the doors were glass…because that's just the kind of girls we are.
Unfortunately, it didn't work. He saw us using our ninja skill and waved at us. We were unhappy and he knew it, but he didn't care. We could have just left his sorry little ass at the hotel, but noooooo, we had to be the good guys…oh well. Now we're stuck with him.
Stormi stalked out the doors and stomped right up to him.
"Why'd you have to notice us?" she demanded, and looked extremely strange considering her clothes.
"Um…because you were there? Are we going to the concert or not?" he said, standing up and grabbing a black-and-white backpack full of stuff.
"Yeah." I said, elbowing Stormi in the ribs. "Here, you can put your stuff in the trunk." I grabbed the keys from Stormi, opened the car, and popped the trunk for him.
"Thanks," he muttered, dropping his backpack in the trunk and slamming it shut. Then we all piled into the car, Stormi driving, me riding shotgun, and Seth in the back.
"It should only be about fifteen minutes away," I murmured, staring down at the directions. "And there's signs, so just follow the signs, I guess."
Stormi grinned. "Okay. No more GPS?"
I shrugged. "Guess not." I grabbed my iPod out of my pocket, plugged it in, and turned on some BVB. We hummed and sang along for a little while, and then we realized how awkward this must be for Seth…poor kid.
I twisted around in my seat and smiled at him. "So, where are you from?" I said, turning down the music a bit.
He looked up at me. "Chicago area. Just a little bit north of the city." He said.
"Cool!" I exclaimed. "We're from a suburb too, northwest of the city."
He grinned. "Nice."
I smiled again and twisted back.
Stormi was still dabbing at her makeup, and I had to actually grab her hand and put it back on the wheel.
"Dude, you're drifting," I said, pulling us back into our lane.
She glanced at me. "Sorry. My makeup is uneven."
I rolled my eyes. "You said it was perfect before you fell asleep…what, did you dream about CC or something?" I said, nudging her ribs.
"Shut up. I'm driving." She growled, elbowing my arm.
I held my hands up. "Sorry."
We drove in silence for the rest of the ride, which wasn't much longer, thank God; we'd done enough sitting in the car. When we pulled into the parking lot we noticed that there wasn't, like, ANYONE here.
"Dude, look how empty it is…" Stormi murmured, parking the car.
"I know, hun," I replied, grabbing my iPod and getting out of the car.
Seth bent over and crawled out of the tiny back seat. "For how big that car looks, the back seat is TINY." He muttered, shaking out his legs and grabbing his backpack from the trunk.
Stormi giggled. "Yeah…I guess my parents never thought I'd be driving more than one person around at once!"
Seth grinned and Stormi and I grabbed our backpacks out of the trunk. I'd brought my bass, but I left it in the car. No point in dragging that thing into a concert.
We walked side-by-side up to the doors. Inside the building was totally dark, with just a few lights on in the corridors. The outside was nice enough looking though, so it wasn't too weird. We dropped our bags outside the doors and pulled out some chips. We hadn't eaten since breakfast, and we finished the entire bag in a flash.
"Jesus," Seth said, laughing at us as we wolfed down the chips. "When was the last time you ate?"
Stormi rubbed her chin in fake thought. "Hm…it seems so long ago…like…8:30?"
"Oh," Seth said as we crumpled up the bag and tossed it at him. He caught it and threw it into a garbage can. Stormi and I stood up and peered through the glass, trying to see something, anything. After about a half and hour, one of the band members walked through the lobby, far enough from the door that we couldn't tell who it was. He turned his head just enough to get a glimpse of us, and he smiled and waved. We waved back and grinned while he walked away.
"Who was that?" I asked Stormi. She had better vision than me, so I though maybe she could have seen who it was.
"Beats me. Looked like either Jake or Jinxx." She shrugged. "Whatever. It's four; looks like everyone else is starting to get here…don't back off from the door…stay where you are. We NEED good spots."
I grinned and nodded happily. Seth muttered something that sounded agreeable and nodded.
Grabbing my backstage pass out of my pocket, I clipped it onto the neck strap it came with, and put it on. Stormi did the same. Seth gasped a little and his eyes got all wide.
"You guys have backstage passes? Lucky bastards!" he exclaimed, but high-fived us so that we knew he wasn't really mad. "That's fucking awesome…I wish I'd gotten one!"
Stormi smiled sympathetically. "I had to auction down to the last penny on eBay for these babies…some chick ended up not being able to go so her boyfriend was selling their tickets or something…"
Seth and I nodded, and that was the last talking we got in before the crowds of kids started pushing in around us. There were at least a few hundred kids here so far, and I was sure there were hundreds more coming. We just listened to our iPods.
I was just getting to the end of "Beautiful Remains" when Stormi gently punched my shoulder. I pulled my earbuds out of my ears and she was staring at me looking insane. "It's 4:58! Dude, the doors open in two minutes!"
"Holy shit!" I screamed, and hugged her. We stuffed our iPods in our backpacks and hoisted them onto our backs, totally forgetting about Seth. He coughed quietly behind us. I turned around, hugged him, and whispered in his ear. "Go find some buddies or something. Sorry, but this is the best birthday present ever and I want to share it with Stormi."
He grinned, nodded, and headed off into the crowd. I turned back to Stormi, and just then, one of the owners of the place came up and unlocked the door. Stormi and I were the first kids in, and we rushed through, basically throwing our tickets at the owner. When we got in the stage area we rushed to the front. It was AWESOME!!! Andy and Jake were out on the stage doing a sound check, and Stormi turned to me grinning. The rest of the kids were coming in now, filling up the space behind us.
"This is going to be fucking awesome," Stormi breathed, hugging her backstage pass to her chest. "I can't wait…"
I nodded, smiling, and grabbed my own pass. "I know, right…"
Andy and Jake had finished up the sound check and were staring out over the crowd, grinning at the size. Andy murmured something to Jake and they waved at the mob as they went back behind the stage.
The crowd was getting a lot rougher. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but some kids were getting hurt. Some kids were even climbing onto the stage, and other kids would pull them back down…to be honest, it was actually kind of funny.
After what seemed like absolutely fucking FOREVER, Andy came back out on stage yelling into the microphone. "Thank you so much for coming out tonight, we all appreciate it. But you aren't here to hear us talk about how much we appreciate you, are you? You're here to hear some fucking music, and that's what going to happen. We're going to kick off the night with an older song called Beautiful Remains."
The crowd screamed like fucking crazy people as Jinxx, Jake, Ash, and CC came running out from backstage, going immediately to their instruments and starting the song.
Everyone started singing along as Andy stepped up to the microphone…
"We gather here to sing to you, the words you've written,
Each bloodshot beauty still rings true, from violent crashes.
Gently rest your weary head,
What you've lived for now is dead."
Stormi and I were jumping up and down with the rest of the crowd. She had pulled out her video camera and was filming, even though you could barely hear the song over the screaming fans.
"I love you, Andy!"
"Jinxx, marry me!"
"Ashley I love you!"
I laughed a little at all the fangirls who didn't even know the name of the song, but were chanting the band members' names. Stormi heard me, and she turned and grinned before going back to recording. The crowd got crazier and crazier as BVB moved into some of their new songs after playing the favorites like Knives And Pens, Perfect Weapon, Never Give In, Sweet Blasphemy, and We Stitch These Wounds. They started off the songs from their new album with Set The World On Fire, followed by Ritual. But when they got to Fallen Angels…Andy had an announcement to make.
"We're gonna do a little something different of this song…" he said into the microphone, sitting down on the edge of the stage just in front of Stormi and I. Needless to say, we almost got trampled, but we managed to stay up there and even touch his hair.
"So, for this song, there's going to be…a sing-off."
